چکیده
Small-scale and large-scale variations of signal amplitude for wideband data collected at two office buildings have been investigated. The data base includes 12000 impulse response estimates which were obtained by inverse Fourier transforming of the channel's frequency response profiles. Extensive curve fitting for the distribution of individual multipath components' amplitudes using elaborate tests based on the KolmogorovSmirnov and Wilcoxon procedures shows that amplitude fading is lognormal for both local and global data. For the local data, the lognormal, Nakagami, and Rayleigh distributions passed the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with a 90% confidence level for 76%, 3696, and 13% of cases, respectively. For global data the Wilcoxon test showed that with 99% confidence lognormal is better than Nakagami, and with 94% confidence Nakagami fits the data better than Rayleigh. After establishing the lognormality of signal amplitude fading in these environments, a two-dimensional Gaussian distrihution for simulating the logamplitudes of spatiallyadjacent profiles has been proposed and implemented.

CONVOLUTIONAL INTERLEAVING FOR DIGITAL RADIO COMMUNICATIONS - Universal Personal Communications, 1993. 'Personal Communications: Gateway to the 21st Century'. C
Interleaving enhances the quality of digital transmission over the radio fading channel. This enhancement comes at the cost of introducing additional time-delay, memory space requirements, and system complexity. This paper describes commonly used interleaving techniques. It addresses the realization and performance of a convolutional interleaver that cuts down time-delay and memory space increa...
متن کاملMobile-to-mobile fading channels in amplify-and-forward relay systems under line-of-sight conditions: statistical modeling and analysis
This paper deals with the modeling and analysis of narrowband mobile-to-mobile (M2M) fading channels for amplify-and-forward relay links under line-of-sight (LOS) conditions. It is assumed that a LOS component exists in the direct link between the source mobile station (SMS) and the destination mobile station (DMS), as well as in the links via the mobile relay (MR). The proposed channel model i...

Indoor mobile radio communications have become an area of great interest as the push for the universal personal communication (UPC) environment becomes more intense. Although the basis of electromagnetic propagation is well known through application of Maxwell's equations, the relationship between propagation and building structures is not well deened. This situation arises as the application o...

Direct sequence spread spectrum, with its inherent resistance to multipath interference, has become a commercial reality for indoor wireless communications and has been proposed for personal communication networks. To allow multiple users within the limited bandwidths allocated by the FCC, codedivision multiple-access (CDMA) is needed. This paper analyzes the performance of CDMA systems using r...
